A California woman who received a free education certificate for $10 from WFG Financial Education for her financial education program may have been duped into giving up her job to help pay for the program.
WSB reports that the California Education Association (CEA) paid the $10 education certificate to a student at the Los Angeles University of Southern California (LAUSD) for her degree program, the Bachelor of Arts in Financial Administration.
A screenshot of the WFG’s website indicates that the certificate is valid only for the student’s degree program and is not valid for a financial aid award.
It’s unclear why the certificate was paid for by the CEA and not the student, but it is clear that WFG was not interested in a financial education certificate at all.
WFG did not respond to Ars’ request for comment.
