All eyes are on Georgia coach Kirby Smart as the Bulldogs prepare for their first bowl game since 2008, when they lost in the national title game to Alabama.
Georgia coach Kirby Snyder is coming off a 6-5 season that featured a trip to the Rose Bowl to face Alabama in the SEC championship game.
The Bulldogs won their first two games, and then were beaten in the BCS National Championship Game by Alabama.
Now that the season is over, the Bulldogs are hoping for a bowl win and that will help the team make some strides in recruiting.
In March, the Georgia women’s basketball team lost to Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament semifinals.
In the next round, Georgia defeated Florida State and then UCLA in the NCAA Tournament.
Georgia is expected to be a strong candidate to win the SEC East, and a bowl victory would give the Bulldogs some momentum heading into the SEC Championship Game.
But that isn’t the only way the Bulldogs could get into the playoff.
If they win out, they could play a rematch of the 2015 National Championship.
The Bulldogs are coming off of a 5-5 record.
They went 7-5 in 2015, and had a 12-2 mark in 2016.
If the Bulldogs win out and the ACC tournament holds up, the 2017 Bulldogs will be a national title contender.
The bowl game is just a week away, and the Bulldogs have plenty of time to build a winning foundation before the start of the season.
If Georgia can win out in the tournament, it could put the Bulldogs in position to be one of the top teams in the nation.
